Anyone knows why Matthew 11:12 is translated so differently in NWT

"from the days of john the baptist until now, the kingdom of the heavens is the goal toward which men press, and those pressing forward are seizing it".

At least there is no flagrant mistranslation as in 1 Samuel 28:12-20 (notice the added quotation marks around Samuel)

When the woman saw “Samuel,”*+ she cried out at the top of her voice and said to Saul: “Why did you trick me? You are Saul!” 13 The king said to her: “Do not be afraid, but what do you see?” The woman replied to Saul: “I see one like a god coming up out of the earth.” 14 At once he asked her: “What does he look like?” to which she said: “It is an old man coming up, and he is clothed in a sleeveless coat.”+ At that Saul realized that it was “Samuel,” and he bowed low with his face to the ground and prostrated himself. 15 Then “Samuel” said to Saul: “Why have you disturbed me by having me brought up?” Saul replied: “I am in great trouble. i had a music album by a gay guy before i was a jw and had no problem listening to it.

it's good music.

some of the lyrics are what you might call 'gay', that is there's some talk about boyfriends, gay bars, and queens and the intolerance the artist encountered as a gay man.

I am Hispanic from Mexico and grew up in a culture where being homophobic to various degrees was (maybe still is) the norm. I am 48 and proudly can tell you that that homophobia is quickly subsiding thanks to this website in general, but more particularly thanks to a very moving post of a young JW who came out of the closet here, but feared disappointing his elder father and his entire family and congregation if he ever admitted his sexual orientation. He was forced to repressed his true feelings and live a life he didn't want to live just to accomodate the beliefs of others. This post opened my eyes to the cruelty to which we subject gay people, especially young ones, with our rejection of their perfectly natural feeling of love towards others. I have admitted multiple times that, based on the natural caring behavior towards others, women are better people than men. I will go farther and say homosexual males are better people than heterosexual males.

"From the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of the heavens is the goal toward which men press, and those pressing forward are seizing it"

New International Version:

From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence, [ d ] and violent people have been raiding it.

Who is wrong? I think I can guess the answer to this question based on their record, but is there a person here that can offer some light on the subject. Thanks!

Vinyl words printed for back of my car should say??

so let's say i've thought about having some vinyl lettering printed up and stuck on the back windshield of the car to publicize ttatt...what should it say?.

Quote the recent Watchtower " be ready to do anything we tell you to do... whether is reasonable or not" and then give credit to the Watchtower. I am paraphrasing, not quoting, of course

in the field service, during my preaching to a householder, she interrupted me and said: i would ask something, after getting answer you can continue!

i said ok. she said: i was not believing in the existence of a god until recently.

last month, in the middle of the night, i got an emergency call from my hospital to attend to a complicated caesarean case.

God could have prevented the whole incident altogether and save the poor lady the mental agony. What about all the other ladies who did get raped somewhere in the world? I am sure some were also doctors. I guess God was too busy helping this one lady and couldn't help others that night. He may not be a multitasker after all; He can only help one person at a time.

NSA spying on Vatican! My JW parents are SOO EXCITED!

it just came out yesterday that the nsa has spied on the vatican and pope francis.

when i went over my parents house yesterday, you could see the excitement, the energy in their eyes when they talked about it.

my dad even pumped his fist like he won something when he was talking about it.

The apostles did not get it wrong. Jesus spoke very clearly and misled them. It was Jesus who either lied or promised and had no power to deliver. When are you gonna realize that "this generation" died almost two thousand years ago.
